Three district officials were killed Monday night in Bardheere district in Gedo region in what local government officials said was an Al-Shabaab attack.
A local government official who declined to be named told journalists the district officials were whisked away from their homes Monday night following a raid by Al-Shabaab.
The three victims were identified as Arab Jis a district officer at Dabaqoray, Mohamed Jibril and Abdi Santur, the head of Buula Kuulo locality.
According to the source, one of the officials was beheaded while the two others were shot dead in the outskirts of the town.
Bardheere district is currently under government control after many years of Al-Shabaab rule.
The attacks come amid heavy military deployment in Gedo region by the Federal Government in the backdrop of disputes with Jubbaland government.
